Buying a pre-owned designer bag online comes down to one question: how do you know it is real? Superfakes have become so convincing that even experienced resellers can be fooled by the naked eye. That is why our store — like a growing share of the professional resale industry — authenticates with Entrupy, an AI-based verification system. This guide explains how Entrupy actually works, what its certificate does and does not prove, and how you can check a certificate yourself before or after you buy.
What is Entrupy?
Entrupy is a New York-based technology company that authenticates luxury goods using microscopic imaging and artificial intelligence. Instead of relying on a human expert's opinion alone, it compares the microscopic details of an item against a database built from millions of images of authentic and counterfeit products. It is used by resale shops, pawnbrokers and marketplaces around the world, and it backs its results with a financial guarantee: if Entrupy certifies an item that turns out to be counterfeit, Entrupy itself compensates the buyer.
Step 1: Microscopic images are captured
Authentication starts with a specialised camera device and app. The seller photographs the bag at multiple checkpoints Entrupy specifies — logo engraving, zipper pulls, hardware, leather surface, stitching, interior labels — but at microscopic magnification, far beyond what your eyes or a phone camera can see. At that level, every brand leaves a "process fingerprint": the way letters are cast into metal, how leather grain is structured, how hardware is finished. Counterfeits can copy the look of a bag; copying its microscopic manufacturing traces is a different problem entirely.
Step 2: AI compares against millions of reference images
The images are uploaded and analysed by Entrupy's algorithms against its reference database of authentic and fake items. The system looks for consistency with genuine production characteristics for that brand, material and era. Entrupy reports accuracy above 99% for supported handbag brands and categories — high, but note the honest detail: when the evidence is insufficient, the result comes back unidentified rather than forcing a verdict.
Step 3: Human specialists review the hard cases
Items the AI cannot settle are escalated to Entrupy's human authentication team for a closer review. This combination — machine consistency at scale, human judgement for edge cases — is what makes the system more reliable than either approach alone.
Step 4: A certificate is issued, tied to that exact item
When an item passes, Entrupy issues a digital Certificate of Authenticity with a unique certificate ID. The certificate is linked to the microscopic images captured from that specific physical item — not to the model in general. This matters: it prevents a genuine certificate from being quietly paired with a different, fake bag.

Entrupy certificates (sample). Every certified item receives its own certificate with a unique ID you can look up.
How you can verify a certificate yourself
- Find the certificate ID. It appears on the certificate document or card supplied with the item. Many of our listings also show a sample certificate image so you know what to expect.
- Look it up on Entrupy's verification page. Entrupy provides a public certificate lookup on its website — enter the ID and confirm a matching record exists.
- Match the details. Check that the brand, model description and material on the certificate correspond to the bag in your hands. A real certificate with mismatched details is a red flag, not reassurance.
- Buy from sellers who certify before listing, not on request. If authentication only happens after you complain, it is not part of the seller's process.
What Entrupy does not do
Being clear about limits builds more trust than overselling. Entrupy verifies authenticity, not condition — a genuine bag can still be heavily worn, which is why condition grading matters separately (see our guide to condition ranks N, S, SA, A, AB and B). It also only supports certain brands and product categories; items outside its database cannot be certified this way and require traditional expert appraisal. And no system replaces a reputable seller: paperwork can be forged, so certificates should always be checked through the official lookup, as above.
How BRAND GET uses Entrupy
Every bag we list is authenticated with Entrupy before it goes on sale, then inspected again by our own specialists in Japan, who grade its condition and photograph it in detail — corners, hardware, interior and all. Most listings include the Entrupy certificate among the product images, and the certificate for your specific item accompanies your order. On top of Entrupy's own financial guarantee, we stand behind every sale ourselves: if an item we sold is ever found inauthentic, we compensate up to 10 times the purchase price, as stated on each product page.
