Loewe pre-owned is a leather lover's market. The Madrid house (1846) built its reputation on some of the finest calfskin in the industry, and under Jonathan Anderson (from 2013) added the Puzzle — a geometric bag that became an instant classic. Japan's market leans vintage: Amazona bags from the house's earlier decades circulate here in beautiful condition alongside Anderson-era pieces. This guide covers the models worth hunting, how Loewe's leathers age, and what to check.

The icons
Puzzle. Anderson's cuboid bag (2015), built from interlocking leather panels and wearable five ways. Classic calfskin in Medium and Small are the core market; the Puzzle Edge refreshed the construction. Panel alignment and edge paint are where quality shows.
Amazona. The house icon since the 1970s: an unstructured Boston-style bag in suede or nappa with the Anagram jacquard lining and padlock. Vintage Amazona in suede-and-leather combinations are the Japan-market speciality — soft, light and unmistakably Loewe.
Hammock and Flamenco. The Hammock's side panels reshape it from tote to hobo; the Flamenco's drawstring knot closes a slouchy clutch-shoulder hybrid. Both show off Loewe's nappa at its softest, and both reward buying the best grade available.

Materials and how they age
Classic calfskin (Puzzle, Hammock) is soft and supple — it scratches, but the marks blend into patina; edge paint on the Puzzle's many panels is the real wear point. Suede (vintage Amazona) is the risk material: check for colour transfer, water spots and matting, because suede cannot be easily restored. Anagram jacquard canvas trims and Basket raffia need a fray check — raffia especially, at the base and handles.
Authentication markers
Loewe's quality is in the hand: leather should feel uniformly fine-grained and substantial, stitching dense and even — the Puzzle's panel seams are a masterclass that copies rarely match. Inside, look for the "Loewe / Made in Spain" heat stamp and, on modern pieces, a date code on the interior tag (six digits encoding month and year). Anagram hardware and zipper pulls should be crisply cast. Every Loewe bag at BRAND GET is verified with Entrupy authentication before listing.
Condition checks before you buy
- Puzzle panels: edge paint intact on all seams, corners not rubbed white
- Suede (Amazona): water spots, colour transfer, matting
- Softness vs structure: nappa should be supple, not dry or cracking
- Drawstrings and knots (Flamenco): leather ties complete, no thinning
- Lining: Anagram jacquard clean, no pulled threads
Our condition rank guide shows how these flaws map to the N–B grades we list.
Price drivers
Puzzle in classic calfskin and neutral colours is the liquid end of Loewe pre-owned; seasonal colours and fabrics discount. Vintage Amazona prices are gentle for the quality — suede condition is everything, and a clean Rank SA piece is worth far more than a tired one at half price. Raffia Baskets are seasonal and priced accordingly.
